Biggest catches
- The 6-month clock can start before the card arrives. Amex's terms say the window may be shorter than 6 months depending on when you receive the card. $50,000 is already about $8,300 a month, so a slow card delivery makes it tighter. americanexpress.com
- One bonus per lifetime. Amex may refuse the bonus if you have or have had the Graphite card or an earlier version. Amex shows the notice before processing. doctorofcredit.com (third-party)
- Amex can decline the bonus at application (the pop-up). Beyond the family rule, Amex weighs your Amex history and how many cards you've opened and closed, and can tell you the Graphite bonus isn't available. It shows that notice before processing, so you can withdraw instead of opening a card with no bonus. americanexpress.com
- Gift cards and cash equivalents don't count toward the spend. Amex's standard welcome-offer terms exclude gift cards, prepaid card loads and other cash equivalents (plus fees and interest) from eligible purchases. Doctor of Credit quotes this Amex wording; we didn't re-read this card's own terms text for it. doctorofcredit.com (third-party)
- Reward Dollars only go two places. Cash back comes as Reward Dollars that you can redeem as a statement credit or at Amazon checkout. There's no direct bank deposit and no transfer to points. americanexpress.com
- Pay Over Time, not a normal revolving line. Only charges you move into the Pay Over Time balance can carry interest, up to a separate Pay Over Time Limit. Anything else must be paid in full each month. americanexpress.com
- Clawback if you cancel or downgrade inside 12 months. Amex's welcome-offer terms let it take the bonus back if you cancel or downgrade within 12 months of opening, return the purchases you used, or game the offer. The Points Guy quotes this wording. thepointsguy.com (third-party)

YMMV: approval and bonus eligibility are the issuer's decision.

It won't touch Chase 5/24
Opening an Amex business card doesn't add to Chase's 5/24 count. That makes it a reasonable place to put large business spend while you're still collecting Chase cards. One Mile at a Time states this for Amex business cards in general.

Sensei's take
$1,500 is real cash, but it takes $50,000 in six months and a $295 fee with no first-year waiver, so the net is about $1,205 plus 2% on the spend. That's only worth it for a business that already spends that much. After year one, 2% flat for $295 a year loses to no-fee 2% cards unless you spend $250,000+ and use One AP. Cancel after 12 months unless that fits. Reward Dollars are $1 each. No travel perks.
