Sensei's take

  • Fair churn
  • Keep a few years
  • Travel wallet: maybe

70,000 points plus a $99 Companion Fare for $4,000 in 90 days is a good haul for a business owner who flies Alaska or Hawaiian. At $95 a year with one card, the free checked bag pays for itself on a couple of trips, and the yearly Companion Fare is the reason to keep it if you can put $6,000 a year on the card. Skip it if you rarely fly these airlines.
