What the bonus is worth

Est. $900+ value

180,000 points × 0.5¢

IHG One Rewards points have no fixed cash rate, so the floor is the low end of what points sites say they're worth: $900 at 0.5¢ per point. Good redemptions reach 0.6¢ per point.

What points sites say: 0.5¢ to 0.6¢ per point

Third-party valuations: what points sites estimate points are worth on average, not a cash value or an issuer promise. Your value depends on how you redeem.

Estimate as of Oct 17, 2026.

Biggest catches

  • One personal IHG card at a time, one bonus per 24 months. You can't get this card if you hold any personal IHG card, or got a bonus on one in the last 24 months. Product-changing to the Traveler doesn't free you up while it's open. creditcards.chase.com
  • Chase 5/24. Doctor of Credit lists the IHG Premier among cards subject to Chase's reported 5/24 rule; five or more new personal cards in 24 months is likely a denial. doctorofcredit.com (third-party)
  • No free night in year one. The Anniversary Free Night arrives only after your first card anniversary, so a one-year churn never sees it. creditcards.chase.com
  • Platinum from spend is short-lived. Spending $15,000 in a calendar year earns Platinum Elite, 5 elite nights and 15,000 points, but Chase says Platinum lasts for the rest of the calendar year you qualify in. Hit it early in the year. creditcards.chase.com
  • Cash-like spend doesn't count toward the $3,000. Balance transfers, cash advances and cash-like transactions aren't purchases. Chase doesn't name gift cards for the bonus, so their status is unconfirmed. creditcards.chase.com
  • Food voucher must be on your own room bill. The quarterly $25 only works on food charged to a room booked in the primary cardmember's name, and it expires at quarter end. creditcards.chase.com

YMMV: approval and bonus eligibility are the issuer's decision.

Sensei's move

  1. Top off the anniversary night

Add your own IHG points to the 50,000-point Anniversary Free Night to book a pricier hotel; TPG says there's no limit on top-up points.

  2. Fourth reward night free

Book award stays in four-night blocks: on a consecutive four-night points stay, the fourth night costs zero points. Pair it with the welcome bonus for a long stay.

  3. Add the IHG Business card too

Chase's IHG family rule names personal IHG cards only, so holding this card doesn't by that wording block the IHG Business card, a second IHG card for the same traveler.

Sensei's take

  • Strong churn
  • Keep a few years
  • Earns a travel wallet spot

180,000 points for $3,000 on a $150 fee is a strong, cheap churn, limited mainly by the one-personal-IHG-card rule. From year two the anniversary night (up to 50,000 points, topped off as you like) plus the $100 airline credit cover the fee on their own for anyone who flies once a year. The food voucher, TravelBank and Instacart credits are harder to cash, so don't count them. Keep it for years if you stay at IHG; it earns a travel wallet slot.
