What the bonus is worth
Est. $160+ value
20,000 points × 0.8¢
U.S. Bank Altitude points (Altitude Connect) points have no fixed cash rate, so the floor is the low end of what points sites say they're worth: $160 at 0.8¢ per point. Good redemptions reach 1¢ per point.
What points sites say: 0.8¢ to 1¢ per point
Third-party valuations: what points sites estimate points are worth on average, not a cash value or an issuer promise. Your value depends on how you redeem.

Biggest catches
- One bonus per five years. Current or past Altitude Connect cardmembers can't get the bonus if they received one on this card in the last five years. Count five years from the last bonus, not the close date. usbank.com
- Prepaid cards and cash convertibles don't count. Loading certain prepaid cards, buying U.S. Mint currency and other cash-convertible items aren't purchases and earn no rewards. Don't plan to reach the $1,000 that way. usbank.com
- Points expire on an idle card. Points expire if the account has no reward, purchase or balance activity for 12 consecutive statement cycles. A sock-drawer card needs a small charge now and then. usbank.com
YMMV: approval and bonus eligibility are the issuer's decision.
Sensei's move
Use it for the first $1,000 of gas each quarter
The card earns 4X at gas stations and EV chargers on the first $1,000 each quarter, and points are worth most as a deposit to a U.S. Bank account or for travel. Discount stores, supercenters and wholesale clubs don't get the gas rate. There are no transfer partners, so redeem for travel or a deposit.
Still works as of Oct 17, 2026 · usbank.com

Sensei's take
The bonus is small and can only be repeated every five years, so it's a weak churn. With no annual fee since September 2024, a $100 TSA PreCheck or Global Entry credit and four Priority Pass visits a year, it's cheap to keep. It suits a light traveler's wallet as the gas-and-travel card, but its points don't transfer, so it won't anchor a points strategy.
