How to get it · 3 steps

  1. On Costco's join page, pick Gold Star (basic, $65 a year) or Executive (premium, $130 a year).
  2. Turn on auto-renewal at sign-up, paid with a Visa credit or debit card or a Mastercard debit card.
  3. Costco emails the $45 digital Shop Card within 2 weeks.
  • No member in last 18 months
  • Auto-renewal at sign-up
  • Online sign-up only

Fine print

  • Not for anyone who was a Costco member (Primary, Household or Affiliate) in the last 18 months, and not for upgrades or renewals.
  • Mastercard credit cards don't count for the auto-renewal. Skip auto-renewal at sign-up and you don't get the card.
  • Costco's terms don't say whether you can turn off auto-renewal after the card arrives.
  • Not good at the food court, can't be combined with other promotions, and Costco employees can't get it.
