Citi points: up to 35% bonus on transfers to Qatar Avios through Oct 31

· PerkSensei Desk

Citi lets you move points to Qatar Airways. Through Oct 31, 2026, one 100,000-point transfer from a Strata Elite or Strata Premier becomes 135,000 Avios (Qatar's miles) instead of 100,000.

How to get it

  1. Before you transfer, check that Qatar Airways or one of its partner airlines has a seat you can book with Avios on the flight you want. Citi can't move points back once they're transferred.
  2. You need a Qatar Privilege Club account. Sign in to your Citi ThankYou account and transfer to Qatar Airways Privilege Club by 4:59 pm Eastern on Oct 31 (11:59 pm in Qatar).
  3. Send it all in one transfer: 100,000 points or more gets 35% extra, 50,000 to 99,999 gets 25%, and less gets 15%. Separate transfers aren't added together. The Avios often arrive within 24 hours but can take up to 5 business days. The bonus Avios post by Nov 30, usually with the transfer.

What changed

  • Before1,000 Citi points = 1,000 Qatar Avios
    NowOne transfer of 100,000+ points: 35% more Avios; 50,000 to 99,999: 25% more; under 50,000: 15% more, through Oct 31, 2026

What it means for churners

  • Only worth it for an award you've found. A one-way seat in Qsuite, Qatar's business class cabin, from the U.S. to Doha is 70,000 Avios (Upgraded Points); one 56,000-point transfer covers it at the 25% tier.
  • Mind the tiers: one 50,000-point transfer gets 62,500 Avios, but 49,000 gets only 56,350, so top up to the next tier if you're close.
  • Nothing to book yet? Citi to Qatar bonuses come back often: 30% in June 2026 and up to 40% in fall 2025 (Frequent Miler's table).

Fine print

  • Qatar runs this bonus, not Citi, so Citi's transfer page doesn't show it (Upgraded Points). Qatar's own offer page wouldn't load for us, so the tiers, dates and end time come from Upgraded Points, Frequent Miler and The Points Party, which quotes Qatar's terms.
  • Qatar counts each tier in Avios per transfer (The Points Party). On Strata Elite and Strata Premier, 1,000 points = 1,000 Avios, so it's the same number. Other Citi cards' points can transfer at a lower rate, so check the rate Citi shows you first.
  • Avios are not cash; their value depends on how you redeem them.
