How to get it
- Before you transfer, check that the Marriott hotel you want has a room you can book with points. Amex transfers can't be undone.
- Sign in to your Amex account and open the Membership Rewards transfer page. Check that it shows the 35% bonus next to Marriott Bonvoy: Doctor of Credit says only some members get it.
- Pick Marriott Bonvoy and transfer in steps of 1,000 points by Dec 10. Amex's page estimates 48 hours for a transfer to arrive.

What it means for churners
- Usually a poor trade: Upgraded Points values Amex points at 2.2 cents and Marriott points at 0.7 cents, so 1,000 Amex points worth about $22 become 1,350 Marriott points worth about $9.45.
- Worth it only to top off a Marriott account for a stay you're booking now, Upgraded Points says. Frequent Miler adds that even with the bonus, each Amex point gets you just under 1 cent of Marriott value.
Fine print
- Frequent Miler (Oct 20 to Dec 10, 2026), Doctor of Credit and Upgraded Points report the bonus. Doctor of Credit says some members are targeted; the other two don't say so. Amex's public transfer page lists Marriott Bonvoy at 1,000 points = 1,000 and doesn't show the bonus.
- Points are not cash; their value depends on how you redeem them.
